High School Summer Institute 2012 Description Interested in art? The High School Summer Institute is for you! Explore the museum's collection and exhibitions Connect with a variety of museum professionals Create a work of art for public display Learn and work with other teens Weekdays, June 18–29 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Participants receive a $250 stipend and earn 20 hours of community service credits To Be Eligible, You Must Be Interested in studio art or art history Entering grade 10, 11, 12, or be a 2012 graduate of a high school located in the metropolitan Washington region Able to attend all sessions of the program To Apply Print out and complete the three-part application form. Applications must be postmarked by April 13, 2012. Interviews will take place in late April at the National Gallery for select candidates. Questions? Volunteer with Arts & Cultural Programs at the DC Center

The DC Center for the LGBT Community is kicking its programming into high gear and needs volunteers for CenterArts, its all-volunteer arts and culture committee. Upcoming programs include the DC Queer Theatre Festival, the National Queer Spoken Word Summit and Slam, and the OutWrite LGBT Book Fair. Learn more by attending the next volunteer night (the first Monday of every month).

The DC Center has many other programs or "working groups," and if you're not interested in arts and culture, you can volunteer with any of their programs. Check their listings here.
